   समापन करते हुए कहा जा सकता है कि तुष्टीकरण की नीति डेढ सौ वर्ष पहले से चली आ रही है जिसे कि कुछ सफलता भी मिली है और आज भी यह जीवित है। परंतु विचारधारागत शत्रुओं के मामले में जानबूझकर इसका विरोध होना चाहिये जितना ही 1930 के दशक ,1970 के दशक तथा 1990 के दशक की अवहेलना की जायेगी उतना ही इसे फिर से दुहराया जायेगा।

   लेकिन मुझे लगता है कि पहली दोनों प्रतिक्रियाओं का मिश्रित स्वरुप सामने आएगा तथा चुनावों में सारकोजी की बढ़त के बाद भी विलेपिन की तुष्टीकरण की नीति ही प्रभावी होगी .लगता है फ्रांस को नींद से जागने के लिए कुछ और बड़ी तथा विस्मित कर देने वाली घटनाओं की प्रतिक्षा है . दीर्घकालीन पूर्वानुमान से बचा नहीं जा सकता जैसा कि थियोडोर डॉलरिंपल ने कहा है कि सार्वभौमिक सांस्कृतिक संगतता का मधुर स्वप्न निरंतर चलने वाले संघर्षों के समक्ष चूर हो गया है .
